Sir Anthony Douglas Cragg, CBE, RA (b. 1949) is a British sculptor. Born in Liverpool, he has lived and worked in Wuppertal, Germany since 1977. Throughout his illustrious career, Cragg has pursued an interest in developing new and specific sculptural themes, installations, and forms. His restless energy is evident in his continuing exploration of various materials and ways of reshaping the world around us.
For Cragg, sculpture is a method to discover and unlock the multitude of things, forms, and ideas that are as yet beyond perception. Sculpture is his way of discovering meanings and languages yet unseen. Through his extensive practice, Cragg has experimented with stacks, assemblages, and site-specific installations, and worked with a wide range of materials including wood, plaster, stone, stainless steel, bronze, and even discarded and found objects.
