Zhan Wang (b. 1962) is a Chinese sculptor. Although known for his sculptures, he also works in other art forms such as installations, photography, and video, and does not consider his works as purely sculptural. Rather, he views himself more broadly as a practitioner of contemporary art. Zhan's artworks are motivated by conceptual ideas, and both embrace and subvert major traditions in both Chinese and Euro-American modern art. His work has been showcased in over 125 exhibitions. Prominently featured in his practice are the use of rocks and stones. Zhan's projects have featured stunning gestures such as exploding boulders and large, chrome-covered abstract rocks.
