( , ) Sense: Tampines
( , ) Sense: Tampines is a public art project that aims to re-imagine the very experience of the everyday in the community of Tampines through fun and interactive contemporary art. The project presents five new artworks by artists from Singapore and Southeast Asia, which offer creative and illuminating interpretations of everyday actions such as cycling, sitting down, playing a game of chance, switching lights on and off, and the exchanging of emoji expressions.
To play – to make sense or make no sense – is to engage both body and mind, notice the common and unusual, encourage conversations around issues of everyday living, and unearth ideas from the ordinary. Interactive and open ended, ( , ) Sense: Tampines breaks the tedium of urban life by injecting a sense of humour and play into the everyday.
The artists and artworks featured are:
Joey.Spl (Singapore), Mycelium Network III
Kray Chen (Singapore), Lucky Balls
Pok Chong Boon (Malaysia), Marks in the Yellow Field
Sai (Singapore), Cycle Ink
Tawatchai Puntusawasdi (Thailand), Ferry Benches
(,) Sense: Tampines is curated by Dr. Wang Ruobing.
